Request Papal Audience Tickets

Pope Benedict XVITICKETS FOR PAPAL AUDIENCES:

To request tickets to the Wednesday Papal Audience, please fill out the form below. There will be no Papal audiences during the month of July, but the Pope will have the Angelus at 12 Noon on Sunday, July 19 and 26 (tickets are not needed).

There will be audiences on the four Wednesdays of August. However, for these audiences, tickets are not necessary for anyone and are not distributed at all. The Pope’s schedule through December 2015 can now be found on the Vatican website, http://www.vatican.va/various/prefettura/index_en.html Please note that there will not be an audience on September 23 as the Pope will be in the United States. We have no information about Pope Francis' trip to the US nor do we have access to any events there. We do not provide tickets to other Papal events, such as Masses and Canonizations.

Once you have requested your audience tickets, you must pick them up in person the day before the audience at the Santa Susanna Parish Office between 4:30 and 6:15 PM. Our address is: Via Venti Settembre, N. 15. Due to restoration work, the Church of Santa Susanna is closed. However, we will be in the office to give out the tickets. Please do not come before 4:30 PM, as there is no place to stand or sit as there was when the Church was open. Our daily Mass in English is at 6 PM in the St. Patrick's Church, at Via Boncompagni, N. 31, near the corner of Via Boncompagni and Via Piemonte, just down the street from the Via Veneto and the U.S. Embassy to Italy. It is a 8-10 minute walk from Santa Susanna.

The Papal Audiences are held on Wednesday mornings at 10:00 AM in St. Peter’s Square. To enter the Square, you will have to go through security first (through the colonnade on either side, as directed by the guards.) Just follow the crowds and go early! We recommend that you arrive 3 hours early in order to get a good seat. The Audience is not a Mass, it is a time for pilgrims and visitors to greet and listen to the Pope. Pictures are allowed to be taken. Religious articles will be blessed by the Pope during the Audience. It lasts about 1 ½ hours and includes prayers, singing, a brief homily, and blessings, all in different languages. DRESS appropriately (no shorts or sleeveless shirts) and don’t bring backpacks or knapsacks. If there is heavy rain, and having the audience outside in not possible, the attendees are split into two groups, one group in the Audience Hall and one group in the Basilica.

Because of the volume of requests we receive, we cannot always send you an email confirming your ticket request. If your email or fax went through, please presume that we have received your request and will put tickets aside for you. If you are concerned to re-confirm your request you can telephone us here in Rome, however this is NOT NECESSARY. And please, please, let us know if you are cancelling and do not double book with the Bishops Visitors Center. It really is not necessary.

Reminders

  • If you have a problem with this application form, you can contact us directly by email at tickets@santasusanna.org. Please include your name, the number of tickets and the date of the audience.
  • We are located at the corner of Via Venti Settembre and the Largo Santa Susanna (at the top of Via Barberini/Via Bissolati). The address is Via Venti Settembre 15. You can reach the Church of Santa Susanna by bus, taxi, subway or on foot. We are located one block north of the Piazza della Repubblica, a major bus and subway stop. If you are coming by cab, tell the driver to take you to The St. Regis Grand Hotel and just walk across the street to the Church.
  • Please Note: Because of the number of ticket requests we receive, we can no longer respond right away to your emails or faxes! In most cases if the email or fax has gone through, then we have received your request and will put tickets aside for you. If you are concerned to confirm your ticket request, then you may phone us at the following number from the US (0113906.4201.4554). Please phone us only between 4 and 6 pm (Rome Time) Mondays through Thursdays when the secretary is in the office.
  • PAPAL AUDIENCE TICKETS are always free of charge. However, if you would like to make a donation to Santa Susanna so that we can continue this service for pilgrims and tourist, we would greatly appreciate it. With increasing crowds, it is more and more difficult (and time consuming) for us to pick up the papal tickets on Tuesdays, as well as the time it takes to record requests and make the tickets available. Anything you can offer is greatly appreciated, but again THESE TICKETS ARE TOTALLY FREE, so the offering is up to you.

Please Note
We do not supply tickets for the Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, the Easter Vigil or the Easter Morning Mass at Saint Peter's Basilica with the Holy Father. We only offer tickets for the Wednesday for General Audiences.

IIf you want to apply for a ticket for Christmas or Easter, you can contact the Religious Sisters of Mercy of Alma, Michigan, at the Bishops Office for U.S. Visitors Office to the Vatican, Via dell' Umiltá 30, 00187 Rome, Italy. It is located at the Casa Santa Maria dell'Umiltà, one block from the Trevi Fountain. Their mailing address is:

U.S. Bishop's Visitor Office, Via dell' Umiltà 30, 00187 Rome, Italy

You can telephone them at Rome Tel. 011-3906-6900-1821 or send them a fax at FAX: 011/3906/679-1448

They can also be reached by email at: nacvisoffrome@pnac.org

Do not expect a response from them because of the amount of requests they receive. This application is not a guarantee of a ticket for Christmas or Easter but only the possibility of a ticket. We know that they will assist you to the degree they are able. Please be aware with Christmas and Easter tickets that they are difficult to acquire and the office makes no promises. You should request these months in advance.

REGARDING NEWLYWED AUDIENCE TICKETS: If you would like these tickets, you will need to apply directly to the Prefect of the Papal Household, fax number (+)39.06.6988.5863, and then pick them up yourselves at the Bronze Doors to the right of St. Peter’s Basilica. Please remember, however, that to receive these tickets you need to have been married in a Catholic Church eight weeks or less on the day of the audience, and you will need to prove this with an authentic Church marriage certificate. Provide them with a fax number so that they can send you the letter that will allow you to claim these tickets. They do not respond to email. And though it’s not required, it is best to wear your wedding outfits, or something similar.
