Our Mission

  • Unity in Faith and Language: the American Catholic Community
  • Reaching Out: Evangelization, Reconciliation, Ecumenism
  • A Home for Pilgrims: the Ancient House of Susanna

We the community of Santa Susanna are a home for all English speaking Catholics in Rome. Designated as the American National Church by the Holy Father, we-- like America-- are a melting pot of peoples united by a common faith and language. We seek unity in diversity.

We commit ourselves to proclaim the Word of God and to share our church life with all English speakers in Rome. We commit ourselves to reach out to those who have been alienated from the Church, and to respond to those who hunger for peace and justice. We commit ourselves to work with other Christians that together we might search for unity.

As caretakers of the house of Susanna, one of the most ancient Christian sites in Rome, we commit ourselves to be a special home for pilgrims who seek to deepen their faith under our roof.
