Historic Tours

Each Sunday following the 10:30 Mass there is a historic tour of the Church ending in prayer at the tomb of the martyrs, in the crypt below the main altar. This tour is also available by request for groups by appointment. The tour takes about 30 minutes. It begins with the building of the house of the saints in 280 AD, when the site was a house church and chronicles the development of the Church from the first basilica at the time of Constantine in 330 AD, through the Carolingian (800AD) and Rennaisance churches (1585). The frescoes are explained in great detail, used to retell the stories of the five saints who are buried here. The tour ends in the crypt, the site of the dining room of the original house of the saints where the Eucharist was first celebrated, and where Saint Susanna is buried. A unique experience, unlike any other church you will visit in Rome.

This tour can be added to a Group Mass planned at the Church, ask us about this when you call to make arrangements for your group to celebrate Mass in the Church.
